Certificate of Examination By Citizen Surgeons

State of West Virginia, County of Marshall, SS:
     The subscribers, practicing physicians or surgeons in the town of Moundsville do hereby certify that we have carefully examined Joseph W. Leech, who states that he is to be paid an invalid pension at the agency in Knoxville, in the State of Tennessee.

Age, 43; height, 5. 9 1/2; weight, 80; pulse, 88; respiration, 25;

We found him in a very feeble condition confined to his room and most of the time to his bed. The condition of his pulse has been rather unusual all through his tedious disease being unusually slow his disease we think is Phthisis Pulmoralis. He is very much emaciated also has Laryingitis preventing him from taking proper nourishment and that his present disability for obtaining subsistence by manual labor mounts to total disability.
