THOMAS H. MEANS, 1st Lieutenant, Company "H"


     Lt. Thomas H. Means, born 14 Apr 1837, was the son of Isaac G. & Maria (Haymond) Means of Taylor Co., W. Va. At age 25, he enrolled as a private in Co. “H” 12th W. Va. Infantry and eventually became 1st Lt. He is found in the 1860 census of Taylor Co., W. Va. with wife, Caroline (Marquess), whom he married in Taylor Co. 7 Apr 1859. In 1880 they were living in Minneha, Sedgwick, Kansas with their children Clark A., Edgar L., S. E. (dau), Marcus C., Willie H., Isaac W., Blanche M. & John. Thomas applied for a pension in 1891 and later received one. He died 30 Jun 1926; Caroline died 31 May 1905.
