MILTON THAYER, Company "I"

     Milton Homer Thayer, the son of Nathan H. Thayer and Elizabeth Walsh, was born in 1844 in Hancock County, (W)Virginia.

     Following his service in Company "I" 12th Infantry, 28 Aug 1862 to 4 Mar 1863, he re-enlisted on 12 Sep 1864 in Company "G" 179th Ohio Infantry. He was made a Full Corporal on 27 Sep 1864.

     On 26 Sep 1865, Milton H. Thayer married Mary E. Hunter. They lived in Hancock County where Milton worked as a Brick Layer. Their children were:

     Milton Homer Thayer died March 18, 1892 at New Cumberland, West Virginia and is buried at New Cumberland Cemetery, Section 4, plot 538, grave 2. His name appears on the Hancock County Civil War Monument. .
