Martin L. Shore was born in 1847 and died in 1919 at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Sandusky, Ohio. He is buried in the military cemetery there.
Martin was the son of Raymond Lee Shore (1820-1866) & Sarah McLane (1823-1898). Other children of Raymond and Sarah were Charles H., Simon, Margaret and Udora.
Martin never married and prior to his move to the Soldiers and Sailors Home, he resided with his nephew, Frank Hale Shore, son of Simon Shore.
The pay roll records of both Martin and Simon of the 12th Infantry are in the possession of great-grandnephew, Richard Shore. The Civil War "Honorably Discharged" medal of Martin is owned by a Richard's brother.
