THOMAS J. ORR, Company "D"


     THOMAS J. ORR, the son of Thomas and Nancy (Frazier) Orr, was born about 1840 in Ohio County, and died in that county 11 Apr 1911. His wife was Sarah "Sallie" Oldham, whom he married 6 Mar 1867 in Ohio County.

From Service Record: He enlisted 14 Aug 1864 at West Liberty, Ohio County, (W) Va., and mustered in at Wheeling 25 Aug 1862. On detached service as clerk at Division Headquarters, Harper's Ferry, beginning December 2, 1863 per order of General Sullivan. On July 27/29, 1864, General Crook/Colonel Joseph Thoburn ordered Thomas J. Orr to serve at the Department/Division Headquarters. Mustered out 16 June 1865 at Richmond.

The soldier applied for a government pension in March 1891, and received Pension Certificate #707.251. Following his death, his widow also applied for and received a pension.
