Thomas Parsons was born in 1816. Born in Greene Co, PA. Died 22 Sep 1902, Marshall Co, WV. Bk #1, pg. 114. Civil War Veteran (1862-1865) Married Eleanor Ruckman 30 Dec 1838 in Marshall Co VA/WV. SECOND GENERATION 2. Henry P. Parsons was born on September 16, 1784 in Washington County, PA, now Greene Co. PA. He died on August 17, 1853 in Marshall County, WV Bk 1, pg. 38. The family moved from Greene County, PA to Fish Creek, Ohio County, VA/WV ca 1830 to what is now Marshall County. Friend W. Parsons (1868-1941) states that the Parsons antecedents settled first on the eastern shore of Maryland then they came west by working across the National Turnpike. 1830 census lists Henry in Ohio Co, VA/WV. In 1850 is listed in 33rd District Marshall County, #313. 1850 census & NSDAR Genealogical Forms Series II Vol. 54 states he was born in PA, but US Census 1880, Proctor District, Wetzel Co, WV #44, Jeahue Parsons states parents born in MD. Buried in Fredonia Church Cemetery, Rine Ridge, Marshall County, WV. Henry Parsons Will, Marshall County, WV Bk 1 pg 38. I Henry Parsons of Marshall county and State of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say: 1st. I after my decease I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah the household and kitchen furniture and one cow. I desire that the balance of my parishable property be sold after my decease and out of the money arising there from all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid, the balance of the personal property be divided among four of my children equally, with the exception of my grey mare, which I give unto my son Jesse as his part of my personal property. The balance of my personal property I give unto my children John, Joseph, Thomas and Elizabeth. 2. I give and bequeath unto my wife Hannah all the profits arising from my real estate during her natural life and after her decease to be sold by my executor whom I will here after more fully name. 3. And the money to be divided equally between my six children John, Joseph, Jesse, Thomas,Elizabeth and my two grandchildren Samuel and Elizabeth Gats, to have a mothers part when they become of ages but to receive no interest which money is to remain in the hands of the other heirs. 4. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son John Parsons executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me here to fore made. Hannah Etta Gorby was born in 1782 in Rostraver Twp, Westmoreland County, PA. She died on January 3, 1860 in Marshall County, WV. Daughter of Thomas Gorby and Elizabeth Allman. Jason Parsons said that his grandparents, Henry and Hannah, moved from PA to Ohio (now Stark County), did not like the area and moved from there to Fish Creek in what is now Marshall County, WV. Henry and Hannah sold 100 acres in Morris Township, Greene County, PA in 1831, and purchased from James B. Buchanan 143 acres on N. Bank of Fish Creek in 1831. In 1860 census for Marshall Co, WV, Hannah was living in the household of Henry W. Parsons, grandson (s/o Jesse) and was listed as owner. Hannah, d/o Thomas Gorby & Elizabeth Allman, buried Fredonia Church Cemetery, Rine Ridge, Marshall Co, WV. THIRD GENERATION 4. Vincent Parsons was born on June 7, 1753 in Nottingham, Chester County, PA. He died after 1828. Vincent and Mariam were Quakers. Four Society of Friends (Quaker) meeting groups were prominent in southwestern PA in the active period of that sect: Westland in Washington County, Redstone and Providence in Fayette County, and Sewickly in Westmoreland County. Vincent Parsons was on the Tax List in York Co, PA in 1781-82-83. He is in the 1800 census Morris Twp, Greene Co, PA. His name is recorded as Pearson, Pierson, Person, and Parson. Apparently moved to (?) Stark Co, OH after 1800. Ref: Father's Will. He was married to Mariam Garretson before July 8, 1780 in York County, PA. 5. Mariam Garretson was born on July 23, 1755 in Chester or York County, PA. She died between 1810 and 1820 in Greene County , PA. 6. Thomas Gorby was born about 1730 in Chester County, PA. He died before March 24, 1814 in Ohio County, VA/WV. From DAR membership of Eloyce Parsons Trader: Thomas Gorby resided during the American Revolution at Westmoreland County, PA and served in the war as a Private in Captain Andrew Lynn's Company of Westmoreland, PA. He served as a Private in Captain Stokely's Company of Frontier Rangers of Westmoreland County. A return to the State of Captain Stokely's Company of Rangers for the month of April, 1783, of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th class drafted, and returned by Captain Andrew Lynn. 7. Elizabeth Allman was born in 1740 in Chester County, PA. She died in Ohio County, VA/WV. FOURTH GENERATION 8. Henry Parsons was born in 1725. He died in 1815/16 in Morris Township, Washington County, PA. Baptized in the Quaker Nottingham Meeting House. Henry Pearson listed as settler in Manor of Maske (Marsh Creek Settlement) as of April 1741. Warrantee of land to Henry Parson 200 acres, Lancaster Co. on 20 Mar 1742. Transcript of Taxable, Manahan Twp York Co. PA 1781; Henry Parson 172 acres, 2 houses, 2 cattle. Vincent Parsons 1 horse, 1 cattle. Tax list 1783 Monaghan Twp York Co. PA- - Henry Pearson 193 lb., Vincent Pearson 141 lb. Henry Parsons land transfer was witnessed by Vincent & Mariam Parsons in York Co., PA. Will of Henry dated August 27, 1811 and probated in Washington County, PA in 1816. Will Bk# 3, pg. 79. He was married to Elizabeth Berry on October 3, 1744 in W. Nottingham Meeting House, Chester County, PA. Source for marriage: Nottingham Quakers 1680-1889 - Henry Parsons, son of Henry (deceased) and Margaret of W. Nottingham Twp Chester Co PA and Elizabeth Berry, d/o Samuel (deceased) were married 3rd day 8th month 1744 at Public Meeting of Friends at W Nottingham 142. 9. Elizabeth Berry was born in 1722 in Nottingham Chester County, PA. She died in York County, PA. Baptized Quaker in the Nottingham & Warrington Meeting House, Chester County, PA. In 1762 Elizabeth and her children were admitted to the Warrington Monthly Meeting from the East Nottingham Meeting House. Elizabeth's parents were Samuel and Margaret Berry. 10. William Garretson. 11. Mary Frazier. 12. Samuel Gorby was born about 1700 in Possibly, Manchester, England. He was married to Mary May about 1724 in Manchester, England or Chester County, Delaware. 13. Mary May. FIFTH GENERATION 16. Henry Parsons was born about 1700. He died before 1744 in West Nottingham Township, Chester County, PA. Baptized Quaker in Nottingham Meeting House. REF: Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (Quakers) 1682-1750. Hugh Parsons and Jane his wife late of the city of Bath moved to London, not satisfied relocated to Pennsylvania. (Dated 1714-15 Monthly Meeting at Bath, Somersetshire, England) A Certificate for Henry Parsons was produced at Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, 29 Apr 1716. -- PA Monthly Meeting Rec., New Garden M.M. Vol. X by Hinshaw pg. 18, 140. He was married to Margaret Sinclair on May 11, 1721 in N. Garden M.M. Chester County, PA. 17. Margaret Sinclair was born about 1694 in Chester County, PA. She died after 1744. Father was David W. Sinclair. Apparently she was a widow; her first husband's surname was Brown. 18. Samuel Berry. 19. Margaret. SIXTH GENERATION 32.
