ANDREW B. PORTER, Company "B"

PORTER

Andrew B. Porter (*See Note.)

  • Served in Company "B", 1st West Virginia Cavalry as Quarter Master and Commissary Sergeant from 1/1/62 to 7/8/65.
  • Enlisted at Washington, PA, 8/26/61.
  • Married Mary Elizabeth Marple, Ohio County, WV, 10/12/66. PHOTO
  • Parents: Hugh & Margaret (Garvin) Porter.
  • 1912 - Andrew lived in Sherrard, Marshall County, WV.
  • Andrew died 4/13/1915; buried Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery, Marshall County, WV.
  • *Note: The photo is probably Andrew B. Porter but has not been verified. The rank shown on his uniform is consistent with that verified for Andrew by the National Archives. Andrew was also proven to be in Washington, D. C., the location of the photography studio where this photo was taken. Furthermore, a careful comparison with the photo below of the elderly Andrew, leaves little doubt that Andrew is the subject in the Civil War photo. However, conclusive proof would be appreciated.
