DEATH - James Alexander Bolon, September, 1864, 18y 2m, at Harpers Ferry, son of Jilson and Maria Bolon of Bridgeport, Belmont County, Ohio, member of Company I, 1st W. Va. Cavalry and met his death by accidentally discharging his pistol. He had placed it in the box of an ambulance, together with some other little stores, and when reaching for something, he accidentally touched the pistol and it went off. The ball entered near the ear and passed out the top of the head, causing death in a short time. His last words were, "My mother lives in Bridgeport" - [Wheeling Intelligencer, 11 Nov 1864]
