William H. Brown was born 12 Jan 1848 at Pleasant Grove, Belmont County, Ohio to George and Elizabeth (Roberts) Brown. He enlisted 29 Feb 1864 at Wheeling, West Virginia, and was discharged 8 July 1865 at Wheeling. He married Hannah Carroll 18 Jan 1876 at Danville, Illinois. They had 4 children, Minnie, William, Thomas, and Carl.

     William H. Brown worked in railroading and farming in Noble County, Oklahoma. He died 8 April 1921 at the National Military Home at Leavenworth, Kansas, and he is buried at Summit View Cemetery at Guthrie, Oklahoma. William also served with his brother, John H. Brown, and his uncle, Ezra Roberts, in Company I.
