Charles enlisted in Company "M" on February 8, 1864 and was mustered out July 8, 1865. He was married to Susan A. Cotts, born June 28, 1846.

CONSENT IN CASE OF MINOR

I, James M. Cunningham Do certify, That I am the Father of Charles W. Cunningham that the said Charles W. Cunningham is seventeen years of age and I do hereby freely give my CONSENT to his volunteering as a Soldier in the Army of the United States for a period of Three Years.

Charles W. Cunningham died March 14, 1912 (Death Certificate). His wife, Susan, died June 13, 1907. Both are buried at Mt. Wood Cemetery, Wheeling, W.Va..
