PATRICK FARLEY, SERGEANT, Company "K"

Research by Linda Cunningham Fluharty.

There were two Patrick Farleys in Company "K".

West Virginia Adjutant General's Report: Patrick Farley - resident of or enrolled at Wheeling, W. Va.; age 22; mustered in 12 Sep 1861 at Wheeling; mustered out 27 Dec 1864, expiration term of service. There is no Civil War pension file for this Patrick at the National Archives.

It appears that this Patrick Farley was born in Craven County, Ireland about 10 Jan 1842 and immigrated to the United States in 1850. He married, 09 Oct 1864, Bridget McGraw (immigrated in 1860) and they resided in Wheeling until the time of their deaths. (Marriage record per Ohio Co. WV Courthouse). Patrick J., a glassblower, died 02 May 1911 and is buried by his wife, Bridget, in Section 1, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. At least three of their children are also buried at there. The plot appears to be that of Bridget's McGraw Family. See Photo

The relationship of Patrick to other Farleys buried at Mt. Calvary is not yet known. Nor is his relationship, if any, to the other Patrick and to a John Farley, also in Company K. It is known that the parents of the other Patrick Farley in Company K were from County Craven Ireland, the birthplace of this Patrick.
