Submitted by Betty McCardle.

HENRY BRADEN and brothers Andrew and Benjamin, were born in Greene County, Pa., the sons of James Braden, born 1803 and Sarah Hagie, born 1802. The family moved to Ritchie County, Va./W.Va., possibly with a stopover in Guernsey Co. Ohio prior to West Virginia. Sarah Hagie's last name may be Hagey and Hague; marriage record not located. The only documentation is by a daughter-in-law years later.

The Braden home at Clarksburg, WV burned 9 Jan 1892 and the family Bible, containing the only birth records, was destroyed.

Henry was injured in an explosion of a sawmill engine around 1894; he died of pneumonia. Henry married Emma in Catlettsburg, Boyd Co., Ky., by Rev. W. T. Jolly. Henry's military pension is #357246. He served during the period of 1861-1865 as a scout of General Sheridan.
