JOHN YOUNG, Company "I"

Submitted by Michele Gable Napoli.

My great-great-great grandfather was John Young who served most of the war with Company I of the First West Virginia Cavalry. During the war he was a Confederate prisoner and was paroled, and he was severely injured in a fall from his horse.

At the end of his term of service he returned to his home in Brownsville, Pa. and married my grandmother, Hannah Elizabeth Haler. They had 3 children, Dora, Laura and Charles. John died on July 15, 1870 from complications from his Civil War hip injury. He is buried in Redstone Cemetery in Brownsville, PA.
