Submitted by David Aeberli.

JAMES C. NOBLE, was born circa 1842 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was enlisted in Company B, 1st West Virginia Cavalry as well and served as a saddler. He was captured at Port Republic, Virginia on Sept. 27, 1862, and died at the Andersonville prison camp in March or April 1865.

Three crude sketches by Pvt. James Noble, Company B, 1st West Virginia Cavalry are in the Carnifex Ferry State Park Collection. These were probably done by this James Noble, during the winter of 1861-62. Another James Noble also served in Company B of the 1st West Virginia Cavalry.
