JOHN I. (or J.) PIERCE, Company "K"

     JOHN PIERCE, first enrolled 12 Sep 1861 and mustered in at Wheeling, W.Va. On 31 Dec 1863, at the age of 20, he re-enlisted at Hedgesville, W.Va., as a Veteran Volunteer, under General Order #191, War Dept. Series of 1863. He mustered in 16 Jan 1864 at Hedgesville. On 14 Jun 1864, he was captured near Lynchburg, Va. The State of West Virginia Adjutant General's Report states: "not officially heard from since."

     John's brother, Joseph S. Pierce, also served in Company "K". Their brother, Jacob L. Pierce, served in the Ringgold Cavalry from Washington, Pa. Co., PA.
