Isaac Newton Bliss, the son of Timothy Wilcox Bliss and Hannah Custer, married Lois Levinia Rose Matter/Motter. She is shown with all three given names in the census records. She is "Lewis L. Motter" in the 1850 census, at which time her family was residing in Washington, D. C. Her father was Abraham, a day laborer, and her mother was Amelia. Her siblings were Catherine, Susan, John, Samuel, and Jerome. - "Lavinia" Matter is found in the 1860 census of Cumberland, Maryland with her mother, Amelia, her sister, Susan, and her brothers John W., Samuel A. and Jerome D. According to the records on the LDS site (familysearch.org) (They have her surname misspelled), the marriage took place 30 March 1863 in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. This date has not been verified and the first child seems to have been born in 1859.
