     Elliott Wallace Geer, a resident of Hancock County, (W) Virginia, answered the first call for troops and served in the First West Virginia Infantry, 21 May 1861 through 27 August 1861. Following his Honorable Discharge [Page 1 - Page 2], he served in the 163rd Hancock County State Militia. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 10 Mar 1862 to rank from 19 Feb 1862. His commission document was signed by Governor F. H. Peirpoint.

     Elliott, born 9 Jan 1842 at Oak Run, Hancock County, was the son of Asa Geer (11 Mar 1808 - 30 Jul 1901) and Frances Barnard Richards (22 Aug 1820 - 28 May 1897). Elliot married Naomi Quinn (21 Jan 1849 - 11 Jan 1918) on 23 Jan 1866. Elliot and Naomi had three children, Allie M. Geer (1867 - ?) Thomas A. Geer ( 1869 - ?) and my great-grandmother, Roxye Naomi Geer ( 13 Jun 1889 - 3 Nov 1971).
